Working 40hrs a week really makes you appreciate your weekends. Hit up the beach with some friends from San Diego. Had some drinks and enjoyed the view. Being from SoCal I think we (natives) take the beach for granted. I’ve noticed in the last year I’ve been back, I have gone more than any time in my past. Later that night I hit a club to support my buddy DJ’n who just came back from Iraq!
I’m really late on this, but been busy. Anywayz my trip to Chicago last month was great! Well after the 6hr delay which pretty much forced me to stay in the city that night instead of driving down to Bloomington. I’d never been to Chi, and I am now mad at myself for taking this trip sooner. I have no idea of the order of where we went first, but here’s the list. Hubbard Inn, Crocodile, Social 25, Boardroom and I remember ending the night at Dublinder.
The next day @EdanEdan and I made the long drive down to Bloomington. We made pretty good time, and immediately upon arriving in town I met with several old friends and picked right up where we’d left off. I was happy to be back if only for 24hrs, but it was well worth it. I won’t say “I wish I didn’t have to leave,” instead I wish I could have took some people with me.
My cousin finally proposed to his GF and the last few months I’ve been the only person that knew what he was planning. From getting the ring custom made, to planning the perfect surprise proposal at a winery on Easter Sunday. For my efforts he hooked me up with this sleek time keeper!
Hadn’t been to a Clipper game in a while, so I figured what the hell. Wanted to hit Yard House to pregame, but the wait was too ridiculous. Ended up hitting Katsuya which was not a bad thing. Few Gin Martinis and a bite to eat and it was off to the Staples Center next door for the game. Seats were awesome and it was one definitely and exciting one! Of course we had to hit The Belasco after. It was a cool place, but I’m over the whole “big club” atmosphere so quickly got outta there and off to meet up with the Dim Mak crew in Hollywood.
If you’re not familiar with this ongoing incident, I highly suggest you look into it. This is a story that has really been heavy on my heart lately. I’ve been absolutely disgusted at the thought and disbelief that something so obviously wrong can take place in our great nation. That disgust has slowly turned into anger. How can a grown man kill an unarmed CHILD walking down the street doing nothing wrong, and not be immediately arrested? I hate to play the whole racism thing, but it’s painfully obvious that race is a key ingredient in this situation. Being a black man in this country is hard, and a lot of the time dangerous. This is not the first time a situation like this has happened, and it pains me to say that this probably isn’t the last.
With the dreadful thought of the weekend being just about over and Monday rapidly approaching, I really didn’t want to do anything Sunday but sleep. I was in my cousins area, so decided to grab lunch with him before heading back to OC. Ended up hitting Gyu-Kaku for some Japanese BBQ. I was 100% not in the mood to drink, but what I ordered came with all you can drink champagne and Saki so I had no choice. Food was delish, but the Cheese Cake Crêpe at the end was out of this world!
Friday started out the weekend with the homies of Warm Brew doin a show at The ROXY. After their performance we took the party back to Santa Monica and kept it goin till deep in the AM. Tried to not drink as much because I knew St. Patricks day would be a shit show, but of course things got nutty and next thing I know I’m taking pulls from a bottle of tequila with “industry people.” Then came St. Patrick’s day. Booked a room at The Roosevelt so I could be close to the happenings of Sunset Blvd. Upon getting to the room BJ immediately went to the bathroom and lost it, guess that’s what happens when you wake up at 10am and start taking shots. Ended up partying at Dim Mak & Cinespace, and got to stay a few hours when they closed for the night. Probably drank a little too much, but not as much as fellow #BougieCrew veteran Josh who woke up in the hospital.. Oops
